Undercurrents

The HIGGS discovery is one of the greatest scientific discoveries in the last 50 years. I wanted to make a sculptural form of this collision. I got help from ATLAS at CERN (Riccardo Maria Bianchi) to explore the idea of creating this from the actual data. It was a difficult task to get it converted to a usable format, but I managed to do it. After that is was also a challenge to print all the fine filaments. I opted for laser sintering to avoid supports. This is the result shot in 3D.
A particle is both a point and wave. I wanted to explore this idea of a particle being two things at once.
A Twistor is an idea developed by Roger Penrose to transform the geometry of spacetime. It's an example of a higher-dimensional space that yields significant results in physics. It's a complex mathematical object that I wanted to create and explore as a sculptural form. This is a rudimentary example, and I plan on making more complex pieces eventually.
I am fascinated by higher dimensional spaces or dimensions used in physics to yield tangible results. It's mind-blowing. This is an amplituhedron developed by Nima Arkani-Hamed and Jarosla Trnka to calculate scattering in particle collisions. I created the pieces in 3D, printed them, moulded them, and then cast them in various plastics and other materials.
An exhibition idea to embed the unseen in the gallery's walls to make it look like cutaways - peering into the hidden reality.
